Case Studies
Client: Isle of Mann Government
Project Overview
The Isle of Mann Government needed to provide on-line training to support their
new Axapta procurement system. SOLO was selected by the IOM project team with their
implementation partners, Vorsprung part of the Touchstone Group, as the fastest
and most effective way or training large numbers of staff in a very short time.
Project Features/ Services Provided
SOLO (Storage Of Learning Objects) is a browser based application designed to deliver
interactive training to staff spread across different locations and large single-site
organisations.
SOLO provides trainers with a collaborative environment where they can prepare and
proof training material, user-driven self-tests and comprehensive assessments.
SOLO delivers all training through a web-based interface that requires no plugins
or additional software.
SOLO is a hosted solution so there are no integration requirements to their existing
I.T. infrastructure.
SOLO interactive training is purchased on a renewable license basis meaning that
they can stop using it when the training requirement has been fulfilled.
SOLO implementations have an extremely short lead-time meaning that they can get
up and running within days and commence developing their training material.
The training material can consist of images, text, product demonstrations, video,
audio, and fully interactive, user-driven product simulations.
The assessments added can take the form of simple self tests so users can check
their progress while working through to fully fledged module assessments with variable
pass marks recorded against individual trainees.
Results
Kieron Matthews, Technical Director of Rocktime and Learning Foundry says "The
IOM project posed a number of challenges as it has the greatest number of users
of any system we have implemented to date".
"As a hosted solution, SOLO gives us the ability to ensure that the system
is scalable to fulfill the needs of any organisation, regardless of its size and
complexity".
